In partnership with the Berardo Collection Museum, Novo Banco photo was launched in 2004 with the objective of rewarding Portuguese artists or those resident in Portugal, who present works related with photography within a given period.

This initiative also involves the holding of a joint exhibition of the artists previously selected by the Selection Jury and culminates with the award of the Novo Banco photo Prize to the winning artist chosen by the Award Jury.
