Dimitra Charamandas' paintings are inspired by photographic images. Whether it is a aerial shot, a self-documented fragment of a shell or an inner organ in the context of natural science: more important to her than the origin of her image sources is the idea that a certain view can also depict other realities in a exemplary manner. Perspectives are fluid, enlarging means transforming, and painting is movement. In this way, "Little inlets" lead into the stream of our visual memory in order to question every fixed idea.
The Swiss-Greek artist Dimitra Charamandas (*1988) grew up in Solothurn. She studied art in Lucerne and in Basel and now lives in Solothurn and Athens.
Opening: May 3rd 2023 / 6-8 PM
Open every thursday from 4-8 PM ( except 18th of May)
